My Big Surprise

So today I went to counseling, just like I do every other week. Chris always stays at home with the kiddos while I go. No biggie. He can handle it. Well, today he had a sneaky little plan for while I was gone.
A few days ago I trimmed Matthews bangs again because they were starting to get in his eyes. After I was done, I realized that when his hair isn't curly, it had a mullet-like look to it. This was no good. So I was planning to cut the back of Matthews hair once Chris had a day off so he could distract Matthew while I cut his hair.

Well, when I got home from counseling Chris tells me that he has a surprise for me in the trash can. I get a little confused and expect to find something of mine broken in there. Before I could get to the pantry and see what was in the trash, Devon's friend who was over playing said she had a secret to tell me. She brought me into my bedroom and whispered in my ear that "Devon's Dad cut Matthews hair." I was like "He did what?!" Immediately Chris starts laughing on the couch.

At this time, Matthew was taking a nap, so I couldn't go see what my baby looked like. But I saw an awful lot of hair in the trash can. About 30 minutes later, I hear Matthew fussing on the monitor. So I go upstairs and see my baby with very little hair. Very. Little. Hair.

It's not that it's a bad hair cut. It's just my baby's curls are gone, and he looks really different now. I loved the shaggy look on him. It was so adorable. Now he looks ........ different. But what is funny is that he keeps rubbing his head, because it has to feel much lighter. I have been able to find a positive note about this. At least he won't need a hair cut now for a long, long, long time. :)

First Sleep Over

Tonight Devon is "hosting" her first sleep over. It is just her neighbor buddy, Alexis, but still very exciting for her. We were planning on having Devon have a sleep out outside in a tent so we could test out the camping experience for her. We really want to go to Enchanted Rock this summer and that would best be experienced with an over night stay so we can enjoy as much as possible. We figure there isn't much testing water we can do for Matthew, with all the hiking and exploring we'll do that will make him ready to sleep anywhere. (hopefully)

We gave them a big lunch box with juice boxes, water bottles and fruit snacks. A big bag of books and a lantern flash light. They haven't gone to sleep yet. So we'll see how that goes. ;)
